How are you changing the world?
We believe the small things we do for others each day is the first step in changing the world. Tell us how you're changing the world and see what others are doing to make the world a better place - one deed at a time.

I was asked for directions from someone looking for a hospital, this place was particulary difficult to find from our current situation - guessing that he was going to visit someone, I jumped out of my car at the traffic lights and said "it is not easy to find from here," follow me I will take you there. He was incredibly grateful and said I can't believe you have been so kind, I felt good for the rest of the day.

I used to help my friends by proof-reading their homework or written papers for school/university. The word spread, however, and now a lot of people ask me to beta-read their work (or even their creative writings). I'm glad I can help and I never cease to be moved by just how much students I hardly know must trust me to let me read their stuff.

Today, and every day, I hope to make my family happier, heathlier and contributing for the good of our country. I hope I lead by example and I hope I encourage. I believe a lot of good starts in the home.

I volunteered at an annual, four-day summer service retreat for the third year in a row. We participated in a wide variety of service activities such as relocating and assembling furniture, serving meals in hunger centers, cleaning, landscaping, packing food, sorting toys and clothes, and assisting with a vacation bible school. It was so much fun!

I found a baby bird today that had apparently fallen out of a nest. His 'parent's were frantically trying to keep me away but I took the baby bird and put him in an empty nest we happened to have in a tree in our yard. Hopefully, I did more good than harm.

I pulled a toad from the jaws of my little puppy who thought he'd found a new chew toy and set it free to live another day.

I planted 3 trees, 2 lilacs, a dozen other bushes, wrote a check to my library and a check to the food bank. I also called 2 lonely older folks (widows) to chat about their day.

I brought a ceramic mug to use at work for my coffee instead of using 3 or 4 styrofoam cups per day which will save (by my count)between 750 to 1000 of those things sitting in a land fill forever.
